Systems Engineer – Battle Simulation Support

Overview
A mission-focused government contracting firm is seeking a Systems Engineer to provide direct support to the Battle Simulation Center at Fort Johnson. This position plays a critical role in enabling high-fidelity military training by supporting the Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability (JLCCTC) and overseeing both the WARSIM Technical Control and JLCCTC Tech Control Forward enclave.
Key Responsibilities

Support daily operations at the Battle Simulation Center, ensuring technical readiness for exercises and training events.

Oversee the WARSIM Technical Control and JLCCTC Tech Control Forward enclave.

Set up and maintain the physical and logical network infrastructure required for all JLCCTC components to communicate effectively.

Work with military units to provide secure network paths and permission protocols to enable tactical data flow from simulations to tactical mission command systems.

Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot network performance to resolve discrepancies and maintain system integrity.

Ensure full compliance with JLCCTC configuration management protocols; perform regular system backups.

Perform systems administrative tasks on Red Hat Linux and Windows (both server and workstation environments).

Operate the WARSIM workstation and associated systems in the simulation federation as an end user.

Willingness to travel unaccompanied within the continental U.S. and to overseas locations as mission requirements dictate.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma.

Prior military experience or work on military-focused projects.

Strong background in networking and systems support.

Proficiency with Red Hat Linux and Windows operating systems.

Familiarity with U.S. Army doctrine, organizational structures, and training philosophy.

Ability to install, configure, operate, and manage simulation application software used by JLCCTC federates.

Active Security+ certification and compliance with DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 requirements.

Minimum two years of experience with DIS and/or HLA federations.

Active Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, systems management, applied mathematics, or a related field.

Five years of experience as a systems analyst or engineer.

Expert-level knowledge of networks, communications, file transfer protocols, and system architecture in Linux and Windows environments.
